Helping In The Vineyard

What is Helping in the Vineyard?

Helping in the Vineyard provides online service opportunities that can be completed in minutes. Participants from around the world spend as much or as little time as they like completing the activities online. As a result of the completed activities, the Church is able to publish and share more resources worldwide.

How does it work?

A Church department identifies a project that needs to be completed. The project is broken up into small activities that are posted on the website. Volunteers complete the activities online; their completed work is compiled/used/distributed by the Church department.

Who can participate?

Anyone can participate in Helping in the Vineyard. You will need internet access, a valid email address and an LDS Account. You do not need to be a member of the Church to create an LDS Account or to participate in Helping in the Vineyard.

How do I sign up?

Click "Sign-in" and enter your LDS Account. If you do not have an LDS Account, you will be prompted to create one. You do not have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to sign up for an LDS Account.

What is an LDS Account?

An LDS Account gives you access to many LDS Web sites, including Helping in the Vineyard. You do not need to be a member of the LDS Church to sign up for an LDS account.

Once I’ve signed in, what do I do?

Select the activities you are interested in participating in. Click on an activity name to read more about the activity. Click on "View topics" to see activities related to this topic. Click on "Add" to put this activity in your favorites list. Click “My Workspace” to see your favorites and other highlighted activities. At any time click on "Start" next to an activity to begin serving.

What service activities are available?

There are various activities available, including preparation of Church media and publications, translation, and more. The activities will be changed and added to, depending on the needs of the Church departments. To view the current activities, click “Activities.”

How much time will this take? How many activities do I need to complete?

The service activities are designed to take a few minutes each. You can spend as much or as little time as you like completing the activities. There are no requirements as to how many activities you complete, how often you participate, or how much time you spend completing activities.

What if I am in the middle of an activity and I need to stop? Will my work be lost?

By clicking "Next" inside the activity, your work will be saved. Each activity such as an image or translated sentence is considered one activity and is saved upon submitting that specific item. The online service activities are completed multiple times by multiple volunteers, so no activity will be stuck if you are unable to complete a specific task.

Why is there an accuracy score for the activities? Will my inaccurate work cause a problem?

You do not need to be concerned that you are being graded, or that you are submitting inaccurate work that will cause problems. The online service activities are completed multiple times by multiple volunteers. The results are compared and reviewed before an activity is marked as complete and used in a final publication. The accuracy report is simply a calculation for measuring the effectiveness of various online service activities.
